Tourism launches Customer Service revolution

Tourism Council WA will launch the Customer Service WAy program to revolutionise customer service in WAs tourism towns and precincts. The program will be launched by Tourism Council CEO Evan Hall at the City of Perth Customer Service Awards today.

“WA has extraordinary experiences to offer visitors, but that’s got to be backed up by extraordinary customer service” said Mr Hall.

“We can’t just rely on good beaches and great wine” said Mr Hall “we must lift service standards to attract new tourists and win back repeat visitors”.

Tourism and education to replace mining as top growth industries

A major new report has identified tourism and international education as the top economic drivers in Australia’s future. Tourism Council WA CEO Evan Hall has welcomed the report which calls for a refocus of Federal and State Government economic strategy.

“With the mining boom declining it time for government and business to look at other industries that will drive Australia’s growth” said Mr Hall.

Etihad Airways direct flights to Perth would boost international tourism from the Middle East, Europe and the US according to Tourism Council WA CEO Evan Hall.

“Etihad flights to Perth would mean more competition and services from Europe through the growing Middle East hub” said Mr Hall.

 “Tourism from the Middle East will continue to grow rapidly as Etihad joins Emirates and Qatar with direct flights to Perth” said Mr Hall.

Tourism welcomes new Segway tours

Tourism Council WA CEO Evan Hall has welcomed the City of Perth’s first Segway tour which were officially launched today by the Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi.

Segway Tours WA, are based on Barrack Street Jetty and offer visitors and locals sightseeing tours along the riverfront in a new fun way.

Tourism Council WA CEO Evan Hall said “developing new tourism product is critical to the growth of the WA industry and it is fantastic to see a new and exciting tourism experience being launched in WA.”

Swan River reforms will boost eco-tourism

Tourism Council WA CEO Evan Hall has welcomed the amalgamation of Swan River Trust with the Department of Parks & Wildlife (DPAW). The reforms announced by Environment Minister the Hon Albert Jacobs JP MLA will help create and sustain eco tourism on the Swan and Canning Rivers.

New advertising campaign to win back tourists to regional WA

Tourism Council WA CEO Evan Hall has welcomed the new series of cinema and TV advertisements promoting regional WA in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth. The advertisements were funded by Royalties for Regions and are being launched in Perth today by Tourism WA.

“This Royalties for Regions marketing investment will bring visitors, dollars and jobs back to regional tourism towns” said Mr Hall.

Broken tourism promise to cost 1,300 jobs

8 August 2013

Today’s state budget has delivered only $2 million this year, of the $6 million p.a. investment the Barnett government promised before the election. The promised funding would have been used to attract more tourists to holiday in Western Australia.

Tourism Council WA CEO Evan Hall said “the government’s broken promise will cost WA $80 million in lost tourist dollars and cost 1,300 jobs across the state.”

Tourism welcomes appointment of new Minister to take charge of government’s funding promise

Tourism Council WA CEO Evan Hall has welcomed the appointment of Liza Harvey as Tourism Minister. The Minister is responsible for a $7.5 Billion dollar industry which employs 90,000 people across Western Australia. The Minister will be responsible for delivering the government’s election promise of $24 million over 4 years ($6 million p.a.) to market WA as a tourist destination.
