Tourism welcomes new Segway tours

Tourism Council WA CEO Evan Hall has welcomed the City of Perth’s first Segway tour which were officially launched today by the Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi.

Segway Tours WA, are based on Barrack Street Jetty and offer visitors and locals sightseeing tours along the riverfront in a new fun way.

Swan River reforms will boost eco-tourism

Tourism Council WA CEO Evan Hall has welcomed the amalgamation of Swan River Trust with the Department of Parks & Wildlife (DPAW). The reforms announced by Environment Minister the Hon Albert Jacobs JP MLA will help create and sustain eco tourism on the Swan and Canning Rivers.

New advertising campaign to win back tourists to regional WA

Tourism Council WA CEO Evan Hall has welcomed the new series of cinema and TV advertisements promoting regional WA in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth. The advertisements were funded by Royalties for Regions and are being launched in Perth today by Tourism WA.

“This Royalties for Regions marketing investment will bring visitors, dollars and jobs back to regional tourism towns” said Mr Hall.

“Domestic tourism marketing has a high return of $20 to $1” said Mr Hall.

Broken tourism promise to cost 1,300 jobs

8 August 2013

Today’s state budget has delivered only $2 million this year, of the $6 million p.a. investment the Barnett government promised before the election. The promised funding would have been used to attract more tourists to holiday in Western Australia.

Tourism Council WA CEO Evan Hall said “the government’s broken promise will cost WA $80 million in lost tourist dollars and cost 1,300 jobs across the state.”

Tourism welcomes appointment of new Minister to take charge of government’s funding promise

Tourism Council WA CEO Evan Hall has welcomed the appointment of Liza Harvey as Tourism Minister. The Minister is responsible for a $7.5 Billion dollar industry which employs 90,000 people across Western Australia. The Minister will be responsible for delivering the government’s election promise of $24 million over 4 years ($6 million p.a.) to market WA as a tourist destination.

Timorese staff to fill gaps during WA tourist seasons

Tourism Council WA CEO Evan Hall has welcomed today’s announcement by the Federal Government to open the Seasonal Worker Program (SWP) to all accommodation businesses in WA. The Seasonal Worker Program will enable staff from Timor to fill low-skilled vacancies during peak tourism seasons.
