The official annual tourism ‘report card’ released today showed WA tourism jobs grew by over 11% from 80,000 to 89,000 in 2011/12. The State Tourism Satellite Account measures tourism’s contribution to the national and state economic accounts.
Tourism Council WA CEO Evan Hall said the report showed that tourism created 7% of all jobs in WA compared to just 3% for agriculture and just behind mining at 8% of state employment.
“But the trend now is for tourism jobs to grow as mining jobs decline” said Mr Hall.
