Flights from Jakarta to Perth to boost tourism
6 February 2013
Tourism Council WA has congratulated Garuda Indonesia and Tourism Minister Kim Hames on today’s announcement of a new daily service from Jakarta to Perth which will commence on the 28 June.
Tourism Council WA Evan Hall said the new service was a great result after months of negotiations backed by both the State Government and Tourism WA.
“This Jakarta air service is about bringing Indonesian visitors to WA, rather than just WA tourists going to Bali” said Mr Hall.
“This new daily service will attract tourists, business travelers, conference delegates and international students alike from Indonesia and South East Asia” Mr Hall said.
“Last year 32,000 Indonesians visited Western Australia and we expect visitor numbers and spend to increase with this new service” said Mr Hall.
“Along with Garuda Indonesia the government has successfully negotiated new services into Western Australia with Qatar and China Southern Airlines over the past four years” said Mr Hall.
