Kings Park reigns over the WA tourism industry

Last night, at the Perth Airport WA Tourism Awards Gala Dinner, the tourism industry gathered to recognise and reward the extraordinary tourism experiences that Western Australia has to offer.

The Awards showcase the best in the industry for their outstanding customer service, innovation and ongoing business excellence.

Tourism Council WA CEO Evan Hall said “the Perth Airport WA Tourism Awards highlight tourism excellence and reflect the passion and professionalism of WA tourism operators.”

The evening saw medallists awarded in 31 categories and culminated with the presentation of the Sir David Brand Award for Tourism to Kings Park & Botanic Garden for their outstanding achievement in promoting & servicing the WA tourism industry.

The Gala Dinner, held at Crown Perth, celebrated WA’s finest food and wine experiences with a specially designed menu using only WA produce served alongside fantastic refreshments from WA based Ferngrove Wines, Little Creatures Brewing and Mad Fish.

“Food and wine is now a key driver of tourism with WA’s food tourism experiences becoming one of our greatest assets with a range and quality of produce that is second to none” said Mr Hall.

“Perth Airport’s long term commitment and investment has been invaluable to the Awards program and we are delighted to have their name associated with these prestigious Awards” said Mr Hall.

Perth Airport’s CEO, Brad Geatches, also commented “as the gateway to Western Australia, Perth Airport plays a critical role is supporting tourism in Western Australia.  We are proud of our 20 year partnership with Tourism Council WA and congratulate all entrants, finalists and winners for their dedication to tourism excellence throughout our vast State.”   

The gold medallists will go on to represent Western Australia at the Qantas Australian Tourism Awards.
