Perth Airport WA Tourism Awards celebrate their 40th anniversary

Finalists in the 2012 Perth Airport WA Tourism Awards were announced tonight at an event at the Esplanade Hotel Fremantle.

Now entering their 40th year, the prestigious awards recognise tourism excellence and reflect the passion and professionalism of tourism operators in Western Australia.

Tourism Council WA CEO Evan Hall said “the quality of finalists shows the Awards continue to flourish into their 40th year.”

“The Awards highlight the extraordinary experiences that the Western Australian tourism industry has to offer” said Mr Hall.

Mr Hall said “the Awards have a tremendous history and forty years on they remain the most prominent in the tourism industry.”

The Awards started with the introduction of one Award and now comprise 26 national categories from accommodation to events as well as the prestigious Sir David Brand Medal.

Perth Airport General Manager Fiona Lander said “the Western Australian tourism sector is critical to the ongoing viability of our State, and we are proud to support this vibrant industry.”

“Western Australia’s unique qualities and beautiful landscapes make this State a must-see destination for overseas and interstate visitors, and showcasing industry excellence is an important element in promoting what we have to offer” said Ms Lander.

Over 900 guests are expected to attend the Perth Airport WA Tourism Awards Gala Dinner on 10 November at Crown Perth to commemorate 40 years of excellence within the WA tourism industry.
