Tourism excellence rewarded at Gala Dinner
14 November 2015
Western Australia’s top tourism operators and experiences have been recognised for their commitment to excellence tonight at the 2015 Perth Airport WA Tourism Awards Gala Dinner at Crown Perth.
The Awards, which showcase the best in the industry for their outstanding customer service and business excellence, were handed out tonight in front of more than 750 industry representatives.
Tourism Council WA CEO Evan Hall said the Gala Dinner was a fantastic opportunity for the tourism industry to gather and celebrate the vibrancy and diversity among the sector.
He said the industry was proud of the great range of amazing experiences on offer for visitors year round, with this year’s winners exemplifying the diversity of businesses involved in the tourism industry.
“This year, there are winners ranging from large operators like Fremantle Prison and Cable Beach Club Resort & Spa, through to small, family-run operations such as Koomal Dreaming and Coral Coast Tourist Park.
“The great range of experiences WA has on offer has also been recognised – for example, adventure specialists Horizontal Falls Seaplane Adventures has been acknowledged alongside unique events like the Argyle Diamonds Ord Valley Muster and new and culturally significant attractions such as the National Anzac Centre.
“The level of participation and the high standard of entrants in the awards program reflects the passion and professionalism seen in the industry throughout Western Australia,” he said.
Gold, silver and bronze medals were awarded in 32 categories tonight, culminating in the presentation of the Sir David Brand Award, presented to Sandalford Wines for their ongoing dedication to the tourism industry and continual transformation as a tourism business.
“The awards are made possible by the continual support of several sponsors, particularly Perth Airport, which is a major supporter of the tourism industry in general,” Mr Hall said.
Perth Airport Chief Executive Officer Brad Geatches said Perth Airport was committed to supporting the tourism industry and recognising the dedication of the many individuals, groups and operators making our State such a vibrant place to visit.
“Perth Airport is a critical player in the tourism industry in WA, providing the first and last impression of our State as visitors transit through the terminals. With the first stage of our $1 billion redevelopment almost complete, we are confident that visitors are experiencing a high level of service and travel experience, which will see them return to WA in the future,” he said.
Gold medalists in categories 1 – 25 go on to represent Western Australia at the national Qantas Australian Tourism Awards in Melbourne on Friday, 5 February 2016.
