10 April 2015

Tourism Council WA extends its congratulations to the numerous WA tourism businesses awarded medals at the Qantas Australian Tourism Awards, announced tonight in Adelaide.

Western Australian tourism businesses were awarded a total of seven medals, including two gold, three silver and two bronze, at the awards ceremony which recognises outstanding tourism operators from around Australia.

All WA finalists in the national awards were gold medallists in their categories as announced at the Western Australian Tourism Awards in October 2014.

In the coveted Tour and Transport Operators category, Top Drop Tours was awarded a gold medal following on from the business’s steady climb from Bronze state medallists in 2011 to Gold in 2013 and 2014 – a great example of a business climbing the awards ladder through continual development.

The City of Fremantle was tonight awarded a gold medal in the Local Government Award for Tourism category, reflecting the City’s commitment to developing and supporting its local tourism industry.

In the Luxury Accommodation category, Cable Beach Club Resort & Spa received a silver medal, recognising the high-achieving company at a national level following on from multiple years as State medal winners.

Out of Sight Tours was awarded a silver medal in the Ecotourism category, recognising the business as a leader among ecotourism operators.

The silver medal in the Standard Accommodation category was won by awards debutant Cottesloe Beach Hotel – a fantastic result for the business’s first year entering the awards program.

Bronze medals were awarded to Geographe Bay Tourism Association in the Visitor Information Services category and Segway Tours in the New Tourism Development category.
