Industry welcomes budget boost for Indigenous Tourism

Tourism Council WA CEO Evan Hall has welcomed the additional $4.6 million Royalties For Regions budget funding over four years to develop Indigenous Tourism in Western Australia.

Tourism Council WA has been advocating for increased funding for Indigenous Tourism for many years and congratulates the State Government for recognising its importance with this budget commitment. The new funding program will assist indigenous tourism business expand their tourism offering across WA.

“International visitors are hungry for indigenous tourism experiences” said Mr Hall.

“Tourists want to engage with Indigenous people and experience Indigenous culture” said Mr Hall.

“Developing indigenous tourism businesses will bring new visitors and tourism dollars to regional WA” said Mr Hall.

“The funding will also create additional jobs and economic opportunities for indigenous communities across WA” said Mr Hall.

“The tourism industry congratulates Tourism Minister Harvey and Regional Development Minister Redman for this astute investment in indigenous tourism” said Mr Hall.

“The tourism industry also congratulates the WA Indigenous Tourism Operators Council for their success in promoting indigenous tourism in WA” said Mr Hall.
