Tourism Council WA CEO Evan Hall has endorsed today’s announcement that the State Government has started funding for the New Museum WA. Museum WA will be a major new attraction drawing visitors to Destination Perth.

“The tourism industry expects the new Museum WA to attract 200,000 more visitors each year including over 100,000 international and interstate visitors who will spend $11 million per day in Perth” said Mr Hall.

“The city as a destination needs to offer a greater range of experiences so visitors can enjoy world-class beaches, magnificent parks and outstanding cultural attractions such as the new Museum WA.”

“The new Museum WA will develop the Perth Cultural Centre as one of the city’s great tourism precincts” said Mr Hall.

“This evolution of the Museum WA will play an important role in redefining Perth and showcasing Western Australia to the world.”

“Visitors will discover what it means to be Western Australian and explore our contribution to the world” said Mr Hall.

“The tourism industry applaud the Government for sustaining investment in attractions that will help build Perth’s visitor economy” said Mr Hall.

The new Museum WA is a critical step forward for the Destination Perth tourism plan launched by Tourism Council WA. Destination Perth is a landmark tourism strategy to double Perth’s visitor economy to $7.1 billion p.a. and create 11,000 new jobs by 2020.
