Industry Excellence Shines at Perth Airport WA Tourism Awards

13 November 2016

Last night, Western Australia’s top tourism operators and experiences were recognised at the 2016 Perth Airport WA Tourism Awards Gala Dinner held at Crown Perth.

The Awards, which showcase the best in the industry for their outstanding customer service, innovation and ongoing business excellence, were handed out in front of industry colleagues from across the state.

Tourism Council WA CEO Evan Hall said the Gala Dinner was a great way to pay homage to the hardworking individuals and organisations who helped to shape the industry.

“Since 1972, the Awards have highlighted the important role tourism plays in driving WA’s economic and community development, recognising the businesses and individuals who continually raise the standard of the visitor experience,” he said.

“The level of participation and the high standard of entrants in the awards program reflects the passion and professionalism seen in the industry throughout Western Australia.”

Gold, silver and bronze medals were awarded in 28 categories last night, as well as three individual prizes being handed out. The night culminated in the presentation of the Sir David Brand Award, presented to ADAMS for their ongoing dedication to the tourism industry and continual transformation as a tourism business.

Mr Hall said the Awards were made possible by the continual support of several sponsors, particularly Principal Sponsor Perth Airport, which is a major supporter of the tourism industry in general.

Perth Airport Chief Executive Officer Kevin Brown said “Perth Airport was pleased to continue as the naming right sponsor of the 2016 Perth Airport WA Tourism Awards, in recognition of the importance of tourism in Western Australia and its contribution to the State’s economy.”

“As the gateway to Western Australia, Perth Airport has invested significantly in transforming its facilities to improve the tourism experience in Western Australia,” said Mr Brown.

“Together with Tourism Council WA, we are proud to recognise the dedication and commitment of all the entrants, finalists and winners to delivering excellence in tourism.”

The gold medallists in categories 1 – 25 will go on to represent Western Australia at the national Qantas Australian Tourism Awards in Darwin on Friday, 24 February 2017.
