WELCOME MESSAGE FROM THE HON PAUL PAPALIA CSC MLA
MINISTER FOR TOURISM
I am pleased to announce that nominations are now open for the 2018 Perth Airport Western Australian Tourism Awards, hosted by Tourism Council Western Australia.
For almost 50 years, these awards have recognised excellence in all areas of tourism achievement across our diverse State.
This year’s 32 categories again include the prestigious Sir David Brand Award for Tourism, which recognises outstanding achievement by an organisation in promoting or servicing the WA tourism industry.
There is also the Sir David Brand Medal to recognise an individual who has demonstrated extraordinary personal and professional achievements making a significant contribution to the industry, and the Sir David Brand Young Achiever Medal.
These medals are presented in honour of WA's Iongest-serving Premier, and first Western Australian Minister for Tourism, Sir David Brand KCMG.
The medal was first presented in 1972, and remains the pinnacle of acknowledgment in WA's tourism industry.
Category winners in the 2018 Perth Airport Western Australian Tourism Awards will go on to represent WA at the 2018 Qantas Australian Tourism Awards.
The 2017 Qantas Australian Tourism Awards, which were held at Optus Stadium in February, were extremely successful with WA taking out 14 awards.
I would like to thank, and encourage, all the operators who have had a successful year in supporting tourism in our extraordinary State, to nominate for this year’s Perth Airport Western Australian Tourism Awards.
