Each September for the past 50 years, Western Australia’s spectacular and unique wildflowers take centre stage at the Kings Park Festival. First held in 1965, the Festival has become a long-running tradition to celebrate spring and the wonderful wildflowers that appear throughout the south west of Western Australia. From humble beginnings with plant specimens in jars on trestle tables the Festival has blossomed into a month long celebration of floral displays, live music, exhibitions, workshops, interpretive artworks, guided walks and family activities. Held against a stunning backdrop of wildflowers the 2012 festival attracted over 600,000 local, intrastate and interstate visitors.
