Corroboree trade show to boost WA tourism

10 February 2016

Tourism Council WA has welcomed the announcement that Western Australia will host Corroboree Asia, one of Australia’s biggest tourism industry trade shows, later this year.

The trade show is expected to attract 300 travel agents from across Asia to Perth in September and will be an opportunity for these agents to experience Perth and Western Australia’s tourism offerings first hand and effectively promote these experiences in key markets including China, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Japan.

Tourism Council WA CEO Evan Hall said securing the trade show was the sort of clever marketing the State government should be investing in to promote Western Australia.

“Corroboree Asia will be a fantastic opportunity to show off Western Australia’s great tourism offering and export it directly into Asia via the visiting agents,” Mr Hall said.

“These sorts of events are exceptionally valuable to the State’s tourism industry and should result in many more visitors travelling to WA from Asia.”

Mr Hall said it was the State government’s responsibility promote Western Australia and its great attractions, products and offerings.

“Other states are taking advantage of the low Australian dollar and international conditions to invest in their tourism sectors and grow visitor numbers – it is critical for Western Australia to increase investment in marketing and grow strongly in emerging Asian markets,” he said.
