New advertising campaign to win back tourists to regional WA

Tourism Council WA CEO Evan Hall has welcomed the new series of cinema and TV advertisements promoting regional WA in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth. The advertisements were funded by Royalties for Regions and are being launched in Perth today by Tourism WA.

“This Royalties for Regions marketing investment will bring visitors, dollars and jobs back to regional tourism towns” said Mr Hall.

“Domestic tourism marketing has a high return of $20 to $1” said Mr Hall.

“These new ads show our pride in Western Australia’s unique regional landscapes and people” said Mr Hall.

“Tourists from Sydney and Melbourne are critical markets because they favour regional tourism destinations such as Margaret River, Denmark, Broome and the Kimberley” said Mr Hall

“For the first time in years we will be showing WA tourism ads in Sydney and Melbourne” said Mr Hall

“Last financial year WA attracted 313,000 interstate holiday tourists who spent over $373M across regional WA, but we can significantly increase this result with good marketing” said Mr Hall.

Interstate leisure visitor numbers have fallen over recent years and WA’s market share has declined. The tourism industry have been vocal advocates for a new interstate marketing campaign to remind visitors what WA has to offer and win back east coast visitors to WA.

“We are looking for steady constant funding to promoting WA’s extraordinary tourism regions into interstate markets” said Mr Hall

“Tourism towns need the Government’s funding commitment to effectively deliver these regional TV advertisements in Sydney and Melbourne each and every year” said Mr Hall.
