Tourism industry welcomes innovative ways to attract international students

Perth Education City (PEC) has been awarded the 2012 Best Practice/Innovation Award for Excellence in International Education by the International Education Association of Australia for its recent Science Roadshow to Vietnam.
Tourism Council WA congratulate PEC for their effective and innovative destination and education marketing as it is critical in attracting students to Perth and Western Australia.
Tourism Council WA CEO Evan Hall said “international students are a key driver for WA tourism and PEC ‘s success is good news for the industry.”
Western Australia attracts approximately 43,000 international students each year which adds approximately $1.3 billion value to the economy through creating direct and indirect employment and stimulating leisure tourism.
“The experiments conducted on the Roadshow helped communicate the quality and innovation of WA education that will assist in attracting more international students to our state” said Mr Hall.
Mr Hall said “PEC is doing a fantastic job in branding Perth and WA as a world-class study destination.”
